INTERESTING VIDEO ON SOUL PAINTING

ACRYLIC PAINTER

This guy's work is amazing. If you have the time at least scroll down to the bottom of the first page. Jason is his name and he is unbelievably talented.

DIGITAL ONION

Created this in photoshop (whenever I say photoshop I mean Corel Painter).

I'm on an antibiotic for a UTI (bladder infection) and man~~!! ~~ it is making me feel dizzy and spacey and good for nothing.

I am highly allergic to penicillin and also sulfa drugs (Bactrim, Septrum)...So they had to give me something I haven't had before.

I think my colorful onion is because I'm spacey.

I don't have the motivation or energy to pull out my pencils...maybe later after I take a nap cause this stuff also makes me groggy but then again it could be because I'm up running to the bathroom all night long when I should be sleeping.

You did want to know all this didn't you, haha!?

ANOTHER COLLAGE

I took two of my past drawings/paintings and collaged them together. The face itself, was drawn with pencil and the background was part of a little acrylic painting I did of a hummingbird feeder with a forest behind it.

I kept working with the collage enough until I got the bird sitting on her head. Okay, I'm weird, I know it.

A PHOTOSHOP PIECE

I took a lantern I had photographed one day, a copper lantern, and then created a separate digital painting in photoshop and then collaged the two together.

V IS FOR VERY GOOD STUFF IN THAT VASE/DECANTER

So its' raining and I'm in the house and I want to be done with the alphabet. I really would like to at least get through a few of the Everyday Matters weekly art.

I looked at this and thought that originally when I painted this it was going to be a vase but turned it into a decanter but really it was a vase in the beginning. This is one I also added to in photoshop. The DD stands for Dusty Duck, ya know...dustyducktales...

so now I'm off to see if I have a W lurking somewhere in my files.

U IS FOR UNINSPIRED

T IS FOR TODDLER TOES

I saw a photo at Ruth's "flying" blog and wanted to try it. I tried using arylic and I'm really not happy with it and just stopped and didn't try to repair it. The toenails look dirty, the shadowing isn't right, the chick is deformed. However, I'm posting it anyway, because I haven't done anything else in the way of drawing lately and I want to get my T out of the way.

MOLESKINE SKETCH

I've been entertained lately by my kitties and the bird. These are not representative of my pets in actuality~~ but I wanted more color than a yellow cockatiel has to offer. And my cats are different colors than this one. When working with colored pencil I find it boring to do just grays and whites.

I would like to try painting my cats with acrylics (on paper that is)...

PULLED OUT MY PAINTS

I was tired of just drawing with pencils.

Just let my brush come up with something because I wanted color. So I guess it is a geisha girl with a veil?!?

Lots wrong with it but its' colorful and I enjoyed it.

When I finished, I photo'd it and then hit saturation and glow in Picasa.

PENCIL SKETCH - JANE SEYMOUR

When Jane was on Dancing with the Stars last year, I had sketched this out.

This was from a photo of her Dr. Quinn days.

SKETCH OF BIRD AND THEN PHOTOSHOPPED

Seems like when I can't come up with anything to draw, I choose a bird.

Does that make me a bird brain..

I think so.

Here is an interesting page about Crow
but have your volume down if you go there, because this Crow is cawing in a very irritating manner.

It's been a busy and hot few days. Tomorrow will be even hotter. I might actually get out my acrylics which I haven't done in a long time and paint something, especially if its' too hot to be in the yard.

A BIT OF INTEREST

I'm going through some art technique books with the hope of gaining a little inspiration.

Here was a quick little experiment to see if it worked.

I tried and actually did see the outline, which appeared more "white" shaping the face.

Can you see the whole outline.

AN OLDER POSTCARD SIZE WATERCOLOR

Just cause I wasn't in the mood to draw today.

and a quick video on seashells.

NOT QUITE IN THE GROOVE YET TO DRAW

Did a google search for giraffes and found one with a funny face.

The writing I did was pretty darn boring so I fuzzed the edges, ha!

Anyway, I'm really hoping to get a bit of inspiration today. The sun is out, and now we are heading into triple digits by Thursday. I don't think I'm ready for a heat wave but it may force me to stay inside and get a drawing done.

THIS IS A BEAUTY

I've seen it before, in fact, I've gone back to see it several times. This beautiful watercolor is done by Nancy Standlee who also is a member of Canvas by Canvas, I believe. She has her own site, and also she posts at Artist Food Network.

I finally just started a sketch after relaxing all day and doing absolutely nothing but sit on my bed and watch daytime TV, which shocked the heck out of me, that I would do that. We had a busy weekend so it felt good to do nothing before our Tuesday begins with Cayden for the next three days.

It has been cold, cloudy and now it is raining a little.

I am so sad to see what has happened in China (7.9 to 8.0 earthquake)...and this after Mynawar last week and all the tornados. This is getting scary, with all the extreme weather and shaking that has been going on in the PNW and Reno....

So many people in need of help.

HAD TIME TO GET A LITTLE DRAWING DONE

In my moleskine last night about 10:30. Quickly done, not thought out, and hey at least its' something.

Having a nice visit with my son and his wife, and my granddaughter.

They are at the gym right now, so although I really don't have time to visit blogs much I thought I would get this posted.

for some reason telephones came into my mind.

The phone is sure symmetrically challenged, but heck its' just a scribble so I have something to put up.

TEA WITH MCNAIR

I think one could spend way too much time at this blog. This is the last link for tonight, because they are now lined up like airplanes waiting for permission to land. I curse the internet, CURSE it. I have good intentions to do constructive things, like clean and get the guest room ready for my son and his wife who are coming tomorrow, but NO...instead I am surfing.

AN ARTIST WHO DRAWS ON POST IT NOTES

Amazing, in my search for a particular subject, I'll follow a link on someone's page and get totally sidetracked. For some reason, this appeals to me, because they're small, quick and tidy and if you want to see what I'm talking about, you can visit this link.

SEARCHING ABOUT INFORMATION REGARDING ART JOURNALS

And came across this post. I found in interesting. Go here if you are interested. He discusses his experience with the different types of papers in sketch journals.

(also wanted to add this one, because I want to go back and look through this site. They referenced an event called the Chicago Pen Show. Now THAT sounds interesting.

HAD TIME FOR A QUICK SKETCH

I basically just wanted to do a quick outline and fill it in somewhat, just to try a different way of drawing.

We had both babies today, so while they took a nap I drew him real quick. I didn't take much time on it (as you can see) but it was fun.

A FEW POSTS DOWN

I posted the portrait of that baby that I drew, whose eyes seemed to be a mystery to me.

About a year Cayden was born and he was quite a surprise (a good surprise, but its' kind of personal so won't post too much about that here..I'll just say my youngest son "gifted" us with this little guy and a gift he has turned out to be.

I drew this top portrait of him right before his first birthday.

When I compared the two sets of eyes, I definitely saw the resemblance more than ever before, because while working on the eyes, you really get to see into the person. I'm still amazed that his eyes are (to my eyes anyway) very similar to the eyes of the mystery baby below this.

When I drew that baby, Cayden wasn't even a thought in anybody's mind.
On the side of his face in this little portrait I did, is a seat belt, because he was in his car seat when I took the photo. So I drew that in and he was touching the window with his finger. Thought I would explain because it looks funny without seeing the whole drawing.

I just had a thought that I ought to turn the drawing of the other baby and see what his eyes look like at the angle Cayden was drawn.

TODAY'S SKETCH ENTRY -GIRAFFE/COW

Animals are hard to draw in my opinion.

Remember your mom saying:
*********************

Why buy a cow if you can get the milk for free.

****************************

By the way, I started wondering how my mom is doing. She has been dead since 1985.

A part of me believes that she is very happily evolving and following her interests, and just in a different vibration.

As I was having my morning coffee and contemplating this, I felt a tickle on my head (something that has happened many times when I think of somebody who has "gone on".

At first it felt like a bug, because I wasn't associating the two, and I quickly tried brushing whatever it was, away with my hand.

I had just washed my hair so I didn't think I had bugs, ha!

Then I connected the two because it continued for about 5 minutes --not a constant tickle but the sensation of it here and there.

I do wonder though, because after 23 years she should be really acclimated to where she is and doing SOME thing.

Why can't they let us know?

A CHALLENGE FOR ME

I enjoy drawing wicker but this one looks hard. I saw this the other day in an old magazine.

I've never seen a wicker chair like this.

SKETCHBOOK DRAWING TODAY

HOW OBSERVANT ARE YOU....

You can take a test here
if you're in the mood.

I looked at my drawing and thought she was observing something but then again, maybe she is experiencing hesitancy.

I imagined, while drawing her, that she was looking at something very intently, or is she just being cautious.

I find it fun to just draw random faces and try to get some kind of "feeling" to them.

Actually, she could be green with envy or something like that.

I need to be more OBSERVANT when I'm drawing.

MY ATTEMPT

This was drawn from Ruth little "chick"
whose picture I fell in love with.

I realized I drew him from a little different angle. I used colored pencil and black pen and then white acrylic. She has a different view of the chicks at her husband, Don's blog that is beautiful, its' the top pic. I don't think I'm ready to tackle that one! This was fun and I'd like to try it just using watercolor some time.
